Recycling electronics
The status of obsolete computer equipment is an alarming problem in Mexico. Most manufacturers handle different data collection and management programs in different regions of operation. For example:
HP has in the United States, Europe, China, India and the Philippines among other countries, recycling programs including computer equipment that can be any brand, not necessarily HP. But in Mexico only has a return program and print articles is for "selected business customers." To receive and recycle computer equipment charge a fee. For more information, see the HP website here.
IBM / Lenovo has only collection and recycling programs in the European Union, China and other countries, but not in Mexico. For these programs, click here.
However, Dell offers free recycling of their branded products. To participate in this program simply fill out a form on the website of recycling their website (click here) and they will pick up the equipment. They do not charge anything although there are charges if you cancel the scheduled date for collection.
However, even plants are well established electronics recycling in our country. There is a group initiative ERI Mexico, a union of capital by Burillo Azcarraga family and the American company Electronic Recyclers, with a capital of 15 million dollars, allegedly tear in 2007.
The plant will recycle computers, consumer electronics and telecommunication devices. ERI Mexico expects to process 120 million pounds (54.5 million kilos) of electronic waste each year once it starts to operate at full capacity.
However, the negative side the recycling of electronics, has been released by NGOs such as World Computer Exchange, who have warned that electronic waste ends involve risks to health and Latin American countries could become a dumping ground for technology products from countries like USA, mainly because there are no rules or regulations for handling, storage and processing, being able to convert Mexico into a "paradise" for companies that have huge amounts of electronic equipment in use, and far from being a business opportunity represents an environmental risk, since the elements and compounds that form when discarded, and stored these products, are highly toxic to the environment and living organisms, examples are: Mercury, which can cause degenerative diseases such as cancer, damage the central nervous system, and death by poisoning, and extreme pollution of groundwater and airo for vapors of mercury, lead, causing intoxication and poisoning of land, as well as being linked to diseases that attack women, to stay in adipose tissue, having the highest proportion of women than men, other problems.
So we must become aware and analyze our business. HOW SO?
Easy, before buying a PC or laptop, look for the following:
-
Processor Speed: is it recently edited more than 2.0 GHz, Intel Dual Core Series AMD Turion X2 or so will give better performance for longer.
-
RAM: It is the soul of your computer, it is best if you have 3GB of RAM or more, and especially before you go for this "fake", ask how many RAM can be expanded, ie important because it enables you to grow your Computer over time.
-
Battery: Try your battery is 6 cells and preferably below, always have your stash to buy another in a year or 2 because it is the average battery life. Do not let the battery discharge to 0, and lengthen the life time dae it.
-
Watch your charger: the cartridges last a long time, but you must take care, buy a power surge. The stores can be found in PC's, electrical or Comercial Mexicana, there are many prices.
-
Dale constant maintenance: Install a good antivirus (Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best), install optimization tools such as Advanced SystemCare 3, keep your equipment in good condition.
On other items:
-
Phones: Try to change as little as possible of equipment. If you REALLY need a smartphone, choose one that really meets your needs. Think that every time you go away a computer, there is a significant environmental impact.

Blue Ray DVD: This transition is calculated as the largest ecological impact. For although BR readers can read DVD on the market is a huge amount of DVD that will be discarded. If you really want to change your DVD player, send it to recycle, contact store electronics or the manufacturer of your computer.
